CLIC was formed by the landscape and garden industry in Far North Queensland in June 2004 as a collective of lifestyle horticulture businesses, individuals and organisations that are involved with the wide range of the tropical landscaping sector.
CLIC also has one of the world’s largest and significant concentrations of tropical landscape and design skills. Many CLIC members have trained in or relocated to this Australian tropical region. Many others have long and valuable experience in the region of tropical landscape construction and management. This means CLIC can provide a massive skills base that can be applied and adapted to any tropical climate in the world, individually or collectively by its many members. CLIC members are or have been involved in major regional, domestic and international landscape development projects.
CLIC is based in Cairns - Australia’s largest tropical region and is located in the Tropical North of the State of Queensland.
The centre of CLIC’s operations lies in the Australian tropics between 15 º and 17 º South.
Cairns is surrounded by World Heritage Wet Tropics Rainforest to its west, north and south and the sensational beauty of one of the wonders of the world, the Great Barrier Reef to its east.
The region has a rich agricultural history of sugar production mostly on its lowland deltas and diverse agriculture and horticulture enterprises on its cooler tropical tablelands to its west, that include tropical tree crops such as mango, coffee, exotic fruits, table and wine grapes, maize, and potatoes and was once a major centre for the production of high quality tobacco in the deep red volcanic soils of the Atherton Tablelands.
