Northern Tropicals QLD is a local family owned business developed to supply the increasing need for large numbers of high quality tropical plants in the Qld Commercial Landscape & Resort Industries. Established in 2006 and based in the rainfall town of Babinda, NTQ is a scenic 25m drive south of Cairns. With just under an acre of fully sun grown stock they are the local specialists in the supply of quality ‘container grown’ Tropicals. The business is small enough to concentrate an emphasis on individual plant quality and presentation yet large enough to offer a wide selection of common & unusual plants for the tropical landscape. Specializing in Heliconias, the business grows a selection of both native & exotic Gingers & tropical foliage lines grown in 200mm up to 5oomm size containers. 

Operating using organic principles the Nursery has a healthy resident native frog, bird & butterfly population that thrive on the floral nectar and protection the Nursery affords. Locally NTQ delivers to Cairns every Tuesday & Friday. Deliveries further afield can be arranged almost anywhere with their plants being delivered to Sydney and recently to Thursday Island in the Torres Strait. All their stock is well irrigated, cleaned, labeled & shrink wrapped to ensure it arrives in premium condition. NTQ have supplied their stock to quality Garden Centers along the QLD coast including Callagans Nursery - Mackay, reputable Commercial Landscape Contractors such as Landscape & Associates - Cairns, Hortulus Pty Ltd – Port Douglas through to commercial Resort Developments re Novatel Rockford Resort – Palm Cove.

To visit them from Cairns follow the highway south from Edmonton through Fishery Falls & Deeral then take the first left then first right once you have crossed the rail line hill coming into Babinda. They are 300m down on the left.
