Outdoor Design & Living Press Release

Date: 09th March 2009

PRESS RELEASE - 3rd March, 2009
Announcing the Outdoor Design and Living Zone at MIFGS

In 2009, Outdoor Design & Living celebrates its 10th anniversary, so it is only fitting that Australia's best-selling outdoor design magazine should have a presence at Australia's premier outdoor design and horticultural event, the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show (MIFGS).

Universal Magazines and the Landscape Industries Association of Victoria (LIAV) will be joining together to create the Outdoor Design and Living Zone at the show. The Outdoor Design and Living Zone will feature four landscape gardens sponsored by Universal Magazines and designed and constructed by LIAV members.

"We are thrilled to be celebrating our 10th anniversary by helping some of Victoria's leading landscapers show what they can do," commented Associate Publisher, Janice Williams. "Outdoor Design & Living magazine has always been about showing the best of what landscapers can do, so by joining forces with LIAV at MIFGS we have been able to bring to life the kind of ideas that you see in the magazine."

After 13 years, MIFGS remains the biggest flower and garden show in the country. Attracting more than 100,000 visitors from Australia and beyond, MIFGS will be held at the heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building and the lush Carlton Gardens from 1st to 5th April, 2009.
The anniversary edition of Outdoor Design & Living, being launched at MIFGS, will showcase award-winning landscapes from around the country, as well as designer outdoor spaces and gardens to be lived in. "The outdoor makeover market is not just about gardening; it's about outdoor kitchens, rooms, pools and turning your backyard in to a lifestyle arena," stated the National Sales & Publishing Manager, Emil Montibeler.

With this Gold Edition of Outdoor Design & Living, we also celebrate our 10th anniversary by introducing a new section of the magazine dedicated to Commercial Landscapes. Commercial and public works make up a large percentage of the work undertaken by the landscape and associated industries and represents some of the highest profile and most innovative work being produced around the country.

"In Edition 19 of Outdoor Design & Living - our biggest issue to date - we look back on a decade of outdoor design," reminisces ODL's Editor, Karen Booth. "But our bumper 10th anniversary edition is not just about reflecting on how far we have come; it's about looking forward to the next decade of design innovation and helping homeowners around the country achieve the ideal lifestyle landscape."
